Petra how long visit

The owner is very accommodating and shuttles guests back and forth to Petra. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and our mansaf dinner was delicious not included in the price.

In all honesty, I have very mixed feelings about the animal situation in Petra and many tourist destinations, for that matter. Both of our donkeys seemed well cared-for and quite feisty , but I definitely saw some animals there that looked a little scrawnier. At the end of the day, you have to do what feels right to you. Jordan is trying to improve the situation of the animals here and elsewhere, so if you see one being mistreated please report it to the Visitor Centre, Tourist Police, or park rangers.

It was surprising how we were able to avoid the crowds when we wanted to. A big part of that is that tourism to Jordan is down pretty significantly, as tourists are worried about safety based on all the Middle East news. Thanks for reading Natalia, glad to hear that you enjoyed reading this article and are inspired to visit the middle east. I agree, its so great to see that there are still not too many crowds here. I play Uncharted and this absolutely reminds me of that. This is a really cool straightforward guide, though! Thank you so much! I hoped it would cut the jargon and give people a simple to follow guide. I found a lot of the info around very very confusing! Hope you get the chance to visit one day — so worth it, I promise!!

Did you get a camel or donkey? If so how much should we pay? Have an amazing time though, Petra is incredible! But we had a great day! The culture of Jordan is quite interesting to learn and explore. This is the type of place that i love to travel with. Keep us updated. Thank you for such informative blog. It is really very useful… Hope to have a grt time at Petra in October.

Very informative. We plan to travel end December. Wondering if two days would be sufficient as days are quite short and one has to get out by 5 pm. What would be timings for the night visit? Hi Nalin, thanks for your comment. Glad you found the post useful. We only had a day there and rushed to see everything — 2 would have been perfect!

Have an amazing time! Thank you for your great info. Off to Jordan very soon and although easy to get info about most things, everyone else has not mentioned toilets in Petra. Was getting a badge concerned! Now able to go with an easy mind.

Thanks so much. As for tickets, you really should mention the Jordan Pass — or did I miss that somewhere? Thanks for the other info! Great highlights and tips! Thanks for sharing about your experience and tips to seeing Jordan! I really enjoyed Amman and Jerash. Thinking of visiting Petra, Jordan?

From how to get there, to ticket prices and the best time to visit, this guide will help you plan your trip to Petra. I was searching all sorts of things… What should women to wear in Jordan? How hot is it in Petra? Do I need to cover my head? Is there water for sale? How to get to Petra? How much is the Petra entry fee? How long does it take to tour the site? Is it safe to travel to Petra in Jordan? So many questions!

Riding donkeys in Petra, Jordan. Camels in Petra, Jordan — a standard view on a trip to the lost city! The Treasury in Petra, Jordan. This Petra blog is packed full of travel tips, like allowing time to visit The Monastery. Petra trails information. Just a sliver of it. Just as we imagined it would look.

And even so, I gasped at the sight of it. Then Tim and I were smiling and laughing, just like two kids on Christmas morning. It was midday, the busiest time of the day to visit Petra, but even so, crowd levels were low.

We took our photos in front of the Treasury and even took the obligatory camel-in-front-of-the-Treasury photo. We were so thrilled to be here. But our journey through Petra really just began. There is so much more to see than the Treasury and most of it is just as thrilling. Your email address will not be published.
